Cloud and Hardware Virtualization

There are several implementations of cloud. Some deliver only a 'computer on the internet' while others have a sophisicated service of a complete application.

Platform as a service:

Infrastructure as a service:

Software as a Service (SaaS; pronounced /sæs/[1]) is a software licensing and delivery model in which software is licensed on a subscription basis and is centrally hosted.[2][3] It is sometimes referred to as "on-demand software".

Cloud and Hardware Virtualization

Cloud or Hardware Virtualization are technologies where 'everything' under the infrastructure layer get virtualized. You still need to install a real operating system and configure an application. This can be automated (like in IDTES or Urbancode). Cloud might give you the option switch on a real application. But you still need a real application.

These hardware virtualization technologies can be used in combination with Test Services Virtualization. Use them where appropriate.

Services VirtualizationPossible to load service with my data, my behavior.
Minimal need for resources.
No application license needed (e.g. COTS application)
Stable, robust, easy to 'reset'.
RD&T Offloading cycles from central zOS hardware.
Real zOS environment with all middleware software
Pure ApplicationEasy to setup complete applications based on patterns. Support for on and off premise hybride cloud. PureFlex, PureAppilcation, PureData (more)
ICSSComplete Cloud solution for easy copy and assembling infrastructures.
