The 'license' name is a combination of product name complemented with characteristics. Some of those are described here.
Not all types might applicable for a certain product.
Authorized User - Assigned to a single user. Can not be used by multiple users.
This license is implemented with a Activation Kit (see below).
Floating User - Consecutive usage of the license by multiple users (one after the other).
Single Install - Can only be installed once (on a single JTS-server which can serve multiple RTC servers at customer)
"for System Z" - This is irrelevant to the customer, but important for IBM internal (revenue) flows. Technically the products are the same.
License + SW Subscription & Support 12 Months - Aquire license and first year maintenance
Annual SW Subscription & Support Renewal - Renewal of yearly maintenance
Fixed Term - A license for a fix period
TIP! - Contact your sales representative to get the most out of your budget. It's not easy to select the right set of products to cover all needed capabilities.
Next to that you have to select the right (applicable) types of licensing.
In the RTC-family we have multiple licenses serving different roles:
Contributor - A license targetted to work with Work Items and Plans
Developer - A license targetted to work with Work Items, Plans and Code
Developer for IBM Enterprise Platforms - A license targetted to work with Work Items, Plans, Code and extentions to run builds on System Z
Some official "descriptions" found in the IBM pricelist are (these are just 4 of the many RTC licenses possible):
D0GN4LL - IBM Rational Team Concert Developer Floating User Single Install License + SW Subscription & Support 12 Months
E0AQ5LL - IBM Rational Team Concert Developer Floating User Single Install Annual SW Subscription & Support Renewal
D0GNQLL - IBM Rational Team Concert Developer for System Z Floating User Single Install License + SW Subscription & Support 12 Months

A license linked to a 'user'. The user may execute the application multiple times. The license
is not transferable.
It's implemented with an activation kit which 'unlocks' the application
on the computer of the user.
A license which is managed by a license manager. The license is only
needed when a user starts the application. After closing the application the license will be
returned to the license manager. The license is free for other users to be used.
Select in the Content-pane (top right) for other licenses.
An activation kit is a small jar file which can be imported with the IIM. This results that the related application
on that machine will not check anymore for a license.
This does not mean you do not need a license. A valid license should be covering the Activation Kit usage.
The customer is responcible for wise usage of these kits.
Agent Mode Licensing
Agent Mode Licensing is the way to leverage the central license server. This is applicable
Floating licenses, Tokens and e.q. Simultaneous Server licenses.
